RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - On Friday, 30 May, the Rustenburg Regional Court sentenced 38-year-old Andries Boy Boy Baloyi to 12 years’ imprisonment for the murder of a 32-year-old man. 
The incident occurred in June 2022 at Ikemeleng informal settlement in Kroondal.According to court evidence, Baloyi and the victim were part of a group gambling outside a well-known local tavern when an argument broke out. The dispute was reportedly over R50 and a dice board.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - A 41-year-old Mozambican man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, 3 June, after police and local farmers worked together to stop a vehicle believed to be linked to rhino poaching at Lindleyspoort, near Boshoek.
According to information received from Rustenburg police spokesperson, Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, the man was found with an unlicensed 375 hunting rifle, five bullets, and three sharp knives.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG – The police are offering a reward of R150 000 for any information that can lead to the arrest and successful prosecution of the alleged perpetrators in the murder investigation of 41-year-old Zanele Precious Nkosi.
According to information received from provincial police Spokesperson, Col Adéle Myburgh, Nkosi, who was an attorney, was murdered on Wednesday, 29 March 2023, at about 16:30 in front of her workplace on 167 Klopper Street in Rustenburg.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Rustenburg has engaged with the Provincial Spokesperson for Public Works, Freddy Sonakile, to urgently escalate the matter of deteriorating road infrastructure in Rustenburg to the MEC for Public Works for immediate intervention. The road infrastructure in wards 35 and 36 is in a dire state and urgently requires government intervention. Key provincial roads, including the R104 (Old Pretoria Road), R509, and the main road between Magaliesberg and Derby, are riddled with potholes and unsafe intersections, causing significant damage to vehicles and posing serious dangers to motorists.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG – The Acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, has welcomed the direct imprisonment of 27-year-old Karabo Mlambo and 29-year-old Keabetswe Dinake, who were sentenced by the Tlhabane Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 16 May.
According to Rustenburg police Spokesperson, Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, the two convicted individuals were part of a group suspected of terrorising members of the community along the busy Lebone Street, leading towards Rustenburg Noord.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Members of the public were invited last week Tuesday and Wednesday by the Municipal Demarcation Board (MDB), in collaboration with the Office of the Speaker of Rustenburg Local Municipality to attend public participation sessions at the Rustenburg Civic Centre. 
The purpose was to engage residents from all 45 wards on proposed changes to municipal ward delimitations ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The police in Tlhabane are investigating a case of murder following the death of an unidentified man who was allegedly assaulted by members of the community in Lefaragatlhe.
The incident occurred on Saturday, 10 May, at around 07:00, along Boikanyo Road in the Nyeneng section of Lefaragatlhe. Police were alerted to the scene and, upon arrival, found the local Protection Services and the ambulance already in attendance. Paramedics declared the victim deceased on the scene.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - News of disruption at the offices of Rustenburg Local Municipality (RLM) spread like the proverbial wildfire on Monday morning, 12 May.
In a display of severe dissatisfaction, workers of RLM gathered in the parking area of the main office building on the corner of Beyers Naude and Nelson Mandela Drive, demanding salaries in accordance with the grading of the municipality. The workers did not engage in strike action, but obtained a permit to “picket” for a period of two hours, whereafter they dispersed and returned to duty.
