BONUS - IKEMELENG -The Rustenburg Local Municipality, through its City at Work operations, recently demolished illegal structures built on water pipeline servitude at Ikemeleng settlement, near Kroondal.
According to RLM, multiple informal structures have been erected on the 300mm bulk water pipeline servitude at Ikemeleng, compromising the integrity of the municipality to provide basic services.
This pipeline supplies the Ikemeleng elevated steel tank, which serves the entire community.
Unfortunately, the pipeline is leaking severely, resulting in low water pressure and reduced inflow into the tank.
Cllr Karabo Phutu, MMC responsible for Technical and Infrastructure Services (DTIS), and the Director of the Department, as well as other relevant municipal bylaw enforcement departments, were on site leading the operation, with SAPS and Municipal Public Safety monitoring the situation.
