MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG - The North West Department of Education concluded the successful hosting of the 2024 Provincial ABC Motsepe South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod (SASCE) Championships, at the Mmabatho Convention Centre. The Eisteddfod ran smoothly without any reported incidents from 18 to 20 July.

The South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod programme is one of the most critical school enrichment programmes that promotes unity in diversity, national reconciliation and social cohesion amongst the learners. Almost 2 600 secondary and primary school learners from all over the province competed in different categories of the music competition. All the category winners will proceed to represent the province at the national championships.
The MEC for Education, Viola Motsumi implored artists from North West province to feature learners on their albums.
“I wish to congratulate each and every learner who has made it to this level. It has not been easy for every one of you to reach the provincial level. Credit and recognition should be given to our teachers for their sterling work.
“As a department we do not only teach learners in class, we also mould their talents outside of the class in music and in sports. I want to make a humble request to our artists in the province to consider featuring our learners in their albums, because they are highly talented,” said MEC Motsumi.
The winning schools will compete at the national championships.
