MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: Police have confirmed a cash in transit robbery that occurred on Monday evening on the R503 (Mahikeng / Lichtenburg) road.
It is alleged that the cash in transit vehicle was shot at and forced to stop. The crew members allegedly got out to take cover in the nearby bushes, but one of them was disarmed in the process. An unconfirmed number of suspects used explosives on the cash in transit vehicle and then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
According to information, a passer-by was fatally wounded. Investigations into the matter by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), were at the time of going to print, still underway. The police have warned the public to refrain from watching or assessing heists, taking videos and going to the vans to “help themselves” with the remainder of the monies from the robberies, as it made them accomplices to the crime if found on scene.
