MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: In a swift move to develop and return Mahikeng Capital City back to its glory days, Mahikeng Local Municipality, is hosting a private sector engagement session today (Thursday) with the theme: ‘Mahikeng we want’, to attract various stakeholders with an objective of developing Mahikeng.

The private stakeholder’s engagement session that is taking place in Mmabatho Palms anticipates a plan of action driven by the Municipality to involve the business stakeholders in the development plan of Mahikeng.
During this week’s media briefing on Tuesday, hosted by Mahikeng Local Municipality, Mphehlo outlined measures that were in place to attract business people to be part of this initiative.
“In our continued efforts to alleviate the financial burden on our residents, the Mahikeng Local Municipality has taken a bold step through a Council resolution to write off 60% of all debt that is older than 90 days. Furthermore, we have reduced property tariffs to promote future affordability and financial sustainability for our communities. In addition to these measures, the interest rate applied to outstanding debt has been adjusted downwards to align with the official rate.
We therefore urge all affected residents to visit the municipality to make the necessary arrangements and benefit from this progressive debt relief initiative,” said Mayor Mphehlo.
The much anticipated event is expected to hear a panel of business experts in franchise, hotel, leisure and accommodation, retail, agriculture and agro-processing, tourism and transport discussing collaborative plans to address the much needed development and service delivery through partnerships that will be formulated at the engagement session.
