MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: The ANC held a Local Government Summit in Potchefstroom, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District. Given SANCO North West’s decision to disengage from ANC activities due to the ANC North West leadership’s ill-treatment and disrespect of the Civic Organisation’s leadership and its role within the alliance, SANCO welcomes the decision to not be invited.

This was expected, considering their stance on disengagement.
However, SANCO North West was amazed to learn through disciplined members of the Civic Organisation who attended in their capacity as government employees, that National Executive Committee (NEC) member, Comrade James Gadinabokao, participated in the summit on behalf of SANCO NW. This is despite the ANC’s clear understanding of SANCO’s position regarding its disengagement from ANC activities.
SANCO strongly distances itself from that unauthorised participation and condemns the ANC leadership for allowing Comrade Gadinabokao in the summit under SANCO North West’s name. They are also aware that he was not delegated by the National Office, making his participation both inappropriate and misleading.
The SANCO North West Provincial Executive Member (PEC) appeals to the ANC leadership to refrain from allowing any SANCO member to attend its activities on behalf of North West without official deployment by the Provincial Secretary. This undermines the PEC’s authority and is seen as a direct attempt to destabilise SANCO.
The Civic Organisation also warned its members that defiance of PEC resolutions is a serious transgression under the organisational constitution. Any PEC member or lower structure member in the province found violating the directives of the upper structures will face disciplinary action in accordance with organisational processes.
National Executive Committee (NEC) member, Comrade James Gadinabokao in his response said he wished not to defy nor undermine SANCO and the ANC, however, as National Executive Member, a resident and voter he has a key interest to unite SANCO and the ANC in the North West province.
“I have initiated that SANCO General Secretary Cde Mike Soko and ANC Provincial Chairperson Cde Nono Maloyi to rescind the SANCO NW PEC decision of disengagement. We cannot be found wanting SANCO disengaging from the ANC, while we have fought side by side with the ANC to win elections in the North West province. I never agreed to that decision and I’m still standing in my position as the NEC member of SANCO. And I have made it a point that I take the ANC provincial chairperson to meet with the General Secretary of SANCO. SANCO must find a ways to pursue the ANC to the negotiations and resolve their political misunderstanding and differences which will resonates in bringing unity between the organisations. The disengagement is not assisting the communities of the North West,” said Gadinabokao.
