MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG - The North West Sports Confederation hosted the SASCOC Disability Classification workshop on 17 August at Potchefstroom High Performance Center attended by more than 80 members - both abled and disabled - representing their Disability Federations as recognised by the Olympic movements - both nationally and provincially. 

The workshop invited delegates from the NW SASA II, NW Physically Disability Federation and NW Deaf Sports. The SASCOC facilitators included board members responsible for Disability Commission Chairperson, Moekie Grobler and Yassen Lombard, Commission member. 
Attendees where presented with information unpacking Disability Sports Systems and most importantly, the classification as the policy on disabled sport for South Africa emphasises the importance of athlete grading for disability sports. The event also encouraged sport federations to include disabled sports within their respective codes. “The NW Sports Confederation intends to have a follow up workshop with Federations with a view to have them enlighten and incorporate Disability Sports within their codes,”  said NWPSC President, Thebe Sekoto.
