MAFIKENG MAIL - MAIL - Thousands of years ago, Wondergat was a waterfilled cavern until the roof caved in and left a magnificent hole filled with water. Approximately 60km from Lichtenburg and 30km from Mafikeng in the North West Province at an altitude of approximately 1440m above sea level, one will find an unbelievable natural dolomite sinkhole called Wondergat. Wondergat is the deepest natural hole in the interior of South Africa, and is used for advanced scuba diving as well as a training ground for instructors and technical divers.
SIU authorised to investigate Rooiwal Water Treatment Works contract in Tshwane
MAFIKENG MAIL – MAHIKENG: President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed Proclamation R 138 of 2023 authorising the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) to investigate allegations of maladministration and corruption in the affairs of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and to recover any financial losses suffered by the State.
Proclamation R 138 of 2023 authorises the SIU to probe the procurement and/or contracting for construction of Phase 1 upgrades and urgent refurbishment at the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works.
The SIU will also investigate any unauthorised, irregular, or fruitless and wasteful expenditure incurred by Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality or the State.
Rabies awareness and vaccination campaign intensifies
MAFIKENG MAIL – MAHIKENG: The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is on an intensive rabies public awareness and vaccination campaign across all four districts.
Veterinary Animal Health Technicians in association with the South African Animal Health Association (SAAHTA) will be vaccinating dogs and cats against the deadly rabies disease.

Acting Premier of the North West Province, Nono Maloyi, Mosiamemang Moiloa as Acting Kgosi of Bahurutshe Ba Ga Moiloa at Dinokana Village, Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality. The Acting Premier who was accompanied by the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality Executive Mayor, Khumalo Molefe and government officials also launched Operation Bulela Metsi at Dinokana Village, Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality.
