RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Tlhabane CHC AYFS Launch: “A Boy Child needs care and empowerment too,” says Mr South Africa finalist, Melvin Ndlhovu.
A lot of empowerment and care campaigns in the country have been concentrated on girl children, it is the right thing to do but a boy child needs care and empowerment too”.
This was emphasised by Mr South Africa 2023 finalist, Melvin Ndlhovu, at a lively Adolescents & Youth Friendly Services (AYFS) launch at Tlhabane Community Health Centre on Friday 27 October.
Geelhoutpark Secondary, Tlhabane Tech and Rauwane Sepeng Learners attended the event – aimed at improving the young people’s services at the public clinics. “A boy child’s confidence and self-esteem becomes low when meeting an already empowered girl child.
Unmotivated boy-children may become a risk and get affected by all sorts of things if they are not given attention too to inspire their lives,” Ndlhovu said. The Mr SA finalist encouraged the learners to make use of the opportunity of studying and being the best. He further made a call to all the sectors to empower the learners, particularly the boys who feel excluded in the empowerment campaigns.
