RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Al-Imdaad Foundation in partnership with the North West Department of Health and Job Shimankana Tabane Hospital recently conducted a cataract surgery camp to benefit patients who have been waiting on the backlog in the province.
The camp forms part of the Al-Imdaad Foundation’s Vision-4-Life eye care programme which operates across the country.

During the camp 38 patients who had been waiting for extended periods, received surgeries. The camp included numerous patients in their seventies and eighties who were delighted to have their vision restored. A child cataract surgery was also performed during the camp ensuring the young patient could live their life with vision restored.
The camp was the first Vision-4-Life cataract camp in the North West province with more expected in the coming weeks and months. This brings the number of provinces served by the Vision-4-Life cataract camps to four (KwaZulu-Natal, North West and Gauteng) with the Western Cape and Mpumalanga also coming on board in 2024.
Al-Imdaad Foundation Co-ordinator in the North West, Abdel Hamid Patel described the camp saying, “It was a great success as many patients who had been waiting on backlogs for a long time were able to regain their eyesight".
