RUSTENBURG HERALD - BOJANALA - In the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality's Chambers on Monday, 15 July, Cllr Suzan Nthangeni was elected unopposed as the new Executive Mayor of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality. This was the during a special Council meeting held at the Madibeng Local Municipality Council Chambers. This, after the municipality has been without a substantive Executive Mayor for more than a year

following the departure of its former political leader. Subsequently, Cllr Victoria Makhaula was elected an interim Executive Mayor by Council to date, until the election of 15 July. 

The newly elected Executive Mayor is no novice in governance. She is a former Councillor of the Madibeng Local Municipality and erstwhile Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) at Bojanala Platinum District Municipality. 
“It is with great sense of humility that I accept the privilege to be the political head of Bojanala Platinum District Municipality, as I fully understand the mammoth task of service delivery that lies ahead. I urge my fellow Councillors to work together in unison, irrespective of our political backgrounds and affiliation, in the interest of communities of the Bojanala District. Ours is to attain unqualified audit opinions through ethical leadership, whilst delivering quality and reliable services to our people. By so doing we can leave a lasting legacy for generations to come. We dare not fail them," Cllr Nthangeni said. "I want to thank my predecessor, Cllr Victoria Makhaula, for keeping the municipality afloat during turbulent times of political uncertainty and through its transition”, she continued in her acceptance speech.
