Motorists travelling on the Bakwena N1N4 on a regular basis will be pleased to know that without question the busiest road in the entire North West Province will soon “sport” a dual carriageway in both directions between Pretoria right up to Rustenburg and even further west towards Zeerust. Currently, the so-called “dualling” project has made considerable progress and will reach the Rustenburg section within weeks,

when the re-construction/conversion of the Helen Joseph and Kruger Street bridges as well as the “dualling” of the pedestrian crossing at the back of Protea Park/Geelhout Park will begin. Rustenburg Herald reported extensively on the “dualling” project and other developments on the Bakwena N1N4 in last week’s edition. This photograph of the pedestrian crossing being prepared for “dualling” was taken on Friday. (Photograph: Waldie Volschenk).
