RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The public is hereby notified that the Department of Home Affairs will be temporarily closed for renovation purposes - from 22 April until 9 May.
In a communique issued by the Office of the Executive Mayor, it is stated that only the most critical services will be rendered during this time period, from a mobile office in Klopper Street (Department of Home Affairs parking area).
The critical services include: birth registration (within 30 days), death registration, smart ID and passport collection, and smart ID and passport applications (strictly by appointment through the Branch Booking System).
Cheryl Phillips (former Ward Councillor and former Shadow Deputy Minister of the Standing Committee on the Auditor General) commented on social media, "Residents also need appointments to collect their IDs. I haven’t been able to get into the system to try and make appointments for collection. The easiest will be if we wait until after the 9th to collect IDs."
