RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Police in Tlhabane launched a search following the murder of a 37-year-old woman and her mother, aged 73.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning, 14 January 2024, at Matlhatsimarwana Section, Lefaragatlhe village outside Rustenburg.
It is alleged that the 37-year-old woman woke up to open the door for her boyfriend. Reports suggest that without provocation, the boyfriend attacked and stabbed his girlfriend several times with a knife.
He then proceeded to the room where he stabbed the elderly woman several times as well before fleeing the scene on foot.
The elderly woman was certified dead at the scene while her daughter who leaves behind a five-month-old baby, succumbed to her injuries at Job Shimankane Tabane Hospital in Rustenburg. The motive for the double murder is yet to be determined and investigations are underway.

The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena has condemned in the strongest possible terms the brutal killing of the pair by someone who was supposed to protect them. He instructed the investigation team to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the alleged perpetrator is brought to book.
