RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - At last the secret behind the lioness, Savannah’s daring escape from captivity at Lost Valley Predators on Monday afternoon, 10 June, and her recapture only two days later, has been revealed. Contrary to what was believed at the time, Savannah never went “a courtin’” when she escaped from the Lost Valley Predators enclosure because she was on heat, but in fact because she was “on the hunt” for a suitable spot to deliver triplets. Three brand new babies (two males and a female) were born quite appropriately on Father’s Day and Youth Day, Sunday, 16 June.

The three perfectly healthy cubs were born between 03:00 and 08:00 on Sunday, 16 June, and have already been given names. The new triplets will be known as Judhà, Shila and Simba, which was the last cub to greet the North West sunlight and a view of the Magaliesberg Mountains on Sunday morning.
There was indeed great jubilation at Lost Valley Predators over the weekend once the news of the birth of the triplets came to light. Savannah is a fantastic mother and the cubs are in excellent condition and well-fed. “Lionesses are not known for being lazy or poor mothers,” Fransia Scheepers, manager of Lost Valley Predators told Waldie Volschenk on Tuesday morning.
Great news for those who would love to see lion cubs from up close for the first time in their lives, is that the new lion cubs will soon be ready and strong enough to the introduced to the world and until then, they will have the proverbial “ball” at Lost Valley Predators (yes, the lions here indeed play with balls and other toys) where they will remain in their mother’s care, until the time comes for them to face the world on their own. Rustenburg Herald will be visiting Lost Valley Predators shortly to allow our readers a peak into the lion’s den, so to speak.
