RUSTENBURG HERALD - MAHIKENG - A twenty eight year-old man of North West - Matlhogonolo Katong (28) appeared before the Mmabatho Magistrates' Court on Monday, 18 March 2024 on a charge of Illegal Possession of diamonds.
His arrest emanates from information received by the Mahikeng based Hawks' Serious Organised Crime Investigation team pertaining to a suspect who was alleged to be in possession of uncut diamonds and looking for a buyer.
On 15 March 2024, the information was operationalised and the transaction was conducted at Mahikeng Mall leading to Katong's arrest. Katong appeared before court and his case was postponed to 26 March 2024 for his formal bail application, North West Police told Rustenburg Herald.
