RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - A 41-year-old Mozambican man was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, 3 June, after police and local farmers worked together to stop a vehicle believed to be linked to rhino poaching at Lindleyspoort, near Boshoek.
According to information received from Rustenburg police spokesperson, Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, the man was found with an unlicensed 375 hunting rifle, five bullets, and three sharp knives.

His vehicle, a white Nissan NP200, had been seen leaving the area two weeks ago after a rhino was killed. This week, the same vehicle returned with three suspects inside. Police and farmers were ready and waiting. When they tried to stop the vehicle, it sped off and drove into the bush. One suspect was caught, but two others ran away. Police are still looking for them.
The Acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, commended the joint efforts of the SAPS and the farming community, praising their tireless work in tracking down and arresting the suspect. She further emphasised that the search for the fleeing suspects will not cease and urged farmers and local communities to continue suppor-ting the police in their efforts to combat wildlife crime.
