RUSTENBURG HERALD – RUSTENBURG – A badly injured man was found near Kroondal over the weekend.
The man had to be taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained after being assaulted.
According to information, Major Okedutse Itumeleng (47) was last seen in Vryburg after work on Friday (27 October).
Major told family that he was planning on hiking from Vryburg to Johannesburg. When he could not be reached and did not arrive at his destination, he was reported as missing. A search was conducted around Vryburg and surrounding areas, without any success. The past weekend, Major was found lying next to the road at Kroondal. He was badly assaulted. According to police, two unknown men offered Itumeleng a lift when he was hitchhiking from Vryburg. They then robbed him of his bank cards and cell phone, assaulted him before leaving him next to the road.
