RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The Tour de Pilanesberg was held this weekend (26-27 October), organised by Perry Dell of the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust. All funds raised go towards rhino conservation and anti-poaching efforts.
The two days of riding through the beautiful Pilanesberg crater - on tourist routes and through the wilderness areas -

was characterised by fantastic sightings of elephant, rhino, buffalo and most antelope species. Cyclists were kept safe with the assistance of a helicopter and the anti-poaching teams. Friends of Pilanesberg and Makanyane volunteers kept the cyclists well-hydrated and fed in extreme heat conditions of over 35°C. All cyclists completed the tour safely and will most probably be back next year. Rustenburg Cycling (RCC) members were repre-sented by Jon and Tracey Andrews.
