Beating the heat
Heatwaves are happening around the country. Here’s how to stay cool in the heat.
While basking in the sunshine is a wonderful thing, extreme heat can be deadly, affecting younger and older people, pregnant women, and those with chronic health conditions.
But there’s a lot we can do to protect ourselves and our loved ones from the heat.
Considerable drop in fuel price expected
BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Mid-month data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) points to another big month for petrol and diesel price relief in December 2023.
The CEF’s data points to a drop in petrol prices of around R1.05 per litre, while diesel is lining up for a cut of up to R2.14 cents per litre. If these over-recoveries carry through to the end of the month, motorists and other fuel users will catch a much-needed break ahead of their travels for the festive season.
Take your tablets! Dis-Chem boosts chronic medication adherence to ensure better health outcomes for patients
BONUS – RUSTENBURG - People suffering from chronic conditions may feel that ‘nothing bad can happen’ if they miss a script every now and then, but the reality paints a very different picture: non-adherence to medication could be very dangerous. “It’s easy to forget to take a pill once in a while, but we understand the importance of adherence to chronic medication. Simply put, better adherence to your medication regime results in better health outcomes,” says Dis-Chem’s pharmacy executive Zaheera Dindar. “We are on a mission to ensure that all our customers follow their own journey towards better health, and a key component of this is sticking to a chronic medicines regimen.”
African Queens!
The ladies of Mamelodi Sundowns are back on top of the African women’s game after defeating Morocco’s SC Casablanca 3-0 in the CAF Women’s Champions League final on Sunday (19 November). A brace from top scorer Tholakele Refilwe and Boitumelo Rabale’s strike earned the South Africans victory in Cote d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast) as they reclaimed the title they relinquished last year. The South Africans’ impressive run in Cote d’Ivoire not only sees them reclaim the title they lost to AS FAR last season, but they set a record of lifting the title without conceding a single goal enroute to glory.
