Lentswe, Kanana - A Mass prayer and Memorial led by Kanana Council of Churches President Apostle TD Mofokeng and different churches with the office of the Matlosana Executive Mayor was held in the township.
This event took place at the Mphe-qheke Stadium in Kanana on Friday August 1. The prayer aimed to provide healing and encouragement through words to the families affected by the tragic massacre in the community.
Youth-led NGO brings relief to those in need
Lentswe, Orkney - Abantu Bethu Organisation, a vibrant youth-led NGO, embarked on a mission to distribute food parcels to families in need. They are determined to make it an ongoing initiative.
On July 30, the Abantu Bethu team took to the streets, armed with food parcels and a passion for making a difference. With a deep understanding of the community’s struggles, they identified those most in need and delivered essential items, putting smiles on faces and hope in hearts.
Abantu Bethu Organisation is dedicated to empowering young people and supporting the community through various initiatives. They aim to supply disadvantaged kids with school uniforms and stationery, provide Hygiene Bags for the Homeless, supply clean water for disadvantaged Communities/Schools and employ local youth to repair and cover potholes on local roads.
March for peace
Lentswe, Kanana - The Kanana Interdenominational Womens Prayer led by President Tshite, invited various churches around Kanana to be a part of a Prayer March against the killing of our people. This march took place on July 25.
Retired teachers celebrate golden years
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Jouberton Old Teachers Association held a birthday celebration for some of the members who celebrated their birthday from April to June. The retired teachers normally celebrate their golden years on quarterly basis. The celebration was held at Rio Casino on Tuesday July 16.
Oom D lived his dream
Lentswe, Jouberton - Local businessman Donald Ncala passed away last weekend. Oom D as he was affectionately known, will be laid to rest in Johannesburg on Saturday July 20. He passed away on Sunday July 14.“He was a seasoned businessman, founder of the NTS Group which operates with liquor distribution and the fuel distribution Astron Energy Jouberton,” said his son, Shaun. Oom D was born in Alexandra in Gauteng and grew up in Soweto (Diepkloof) before relocating to Jouberton. He worked at SAB and drove trucks for years. “He started off with a spaza shop and a tarven from home with a dream to own a fuel station which was accomplished. He was a father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather and respected for his basic morals and principles, integrity and respect,” Shaun said. The funeral service will start at 07:00, to leave the house for the cemetery at 08:30.
