Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Five suspects appeared in court for allegedly “selling” jobs at the Matlosana Municipality. They allegedly charged job seekers R10 000 per vacancy. According to Brig Sabata Mokgwabone, police spokesperson, members of the Provincial Organised Crime responded to a complaint from the municipality about individuals who complained about employment contracts they signed, on condition that they pay R10 000. However, they were never employed.

Lentswe, Jouberton - The Matlosana community is holding its breath as one of its own, 16-year-old Maya Zaman from Jouberton, prepares to shine on stage at the prestigious Face of SA Teen 2025 pageant. The national final is set to take place next week in Johannesburg. This passionate teenager describes herself as deeply committed to supporting the youth in her neighbourhood with advice and guidance. She is also a fierce advocate for teen mothers, a cause close to her heart as her elder sister became pregnant during her teenage years.
Passing of model mourned
Lentswe, Khuma - A young model from Khuma and former Miss Valentine and Little Miss Khuma died unexpectedly last weekend.
Her modelling coach, Themba Oliphant, told Lentswe they are still in shock after the sudden death of their beloved Bokamoso Mogoje. He said she was rushed to the clinic on Saturday December 6 suffering from shortness of breath. She died at the clinic. Bokamoso was 18 years old. She was a model at Red carpet Sead Modeling Agency. “She was such a bright light in our agency, she will be missed more than words can say.’’ Her memorial services will be held on Thursday December 11 at Gabe Church in Khuma and the funeral on December 13 at the Khuma hall.
Police cleaning up North West
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - In enhancing public safety and addressing the heightened risk of criminal activity during this festive period, the police are busy with festive season operations. “The operations between December 1 and 7 covered all the province’s districts and included the execution of actions such as the setting of roadblocks on all the national and provincial arterial roads, tracing of wanted suspects, stop and searches and compliance inspections at liquor selling outlets and shutting down of unlicensed liquor premises.
DA warns against apartheid-era race classification
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The DA reacted with horror to the Department of Employment & Labour’s instruction to employers in a letter to use the repealed 1950 Population Registration Act to classify staff by race. Michael Bagraim, spokesperson on Employment & Labour, called it the revival of apartheid-era race classification.
