MAHIKENG MAIL-MONTSHIOA: Kelaegile Thupayagae, 70 living with her children and grandchildren from Montshiwa Stadt, in Mahikeng said she slept in fear when there was heavy rains and winds, as it was evidently clear that her four roomed house wall was falling apart from the structure of the house.
“Anytime this house can fall. I applied for an RDP during the time we elected our first councillor to current one we are having today but nothing is done. I sleep in fear when it rains or there are heavy winds because the walls are shaking which terrifies the children when the have to sleep or just to stay in the house. I tried taking from pockets to fill the cracks which it is no enough as we relay of grands while my kids are not permanently employed having to leave from hand to mouth,”’ says Thupayagae.
The house have cracks from inside and out where in some rooms there were holes and the wall detached the house structure that she shares with her children and grandchildren.
“All I got is endless promises from our councillors that they will assist me as I have repeatedly reported my situation but nothing is done. It is not a nice feeling to stay in house that can fall on you anytime if these walls crumbled. I have no choice but to plea to those who can help and my children have a dignified house that make this children feel at home. It is sad to see children afraid to stay in their own home. Even if I didn’t get a new house, but if this house could be repaired for the sake of children to have a proper home. I am sick and I cannot walk properly because I have sore leg that needs treating too,” said Thupayagae.
The Thupayagae family who were tired living in fear hoped that their call could be heard by government officials and any good Samaritans to save them for the fear they lived in.
