MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG:  The Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation (ACSR) has once again proven that excellence is not an act, but a habit, after clinching three prestigious trophies for  its outstanding 2024/25 audit performance.
At the Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) Awards Ceremony held last Friday, ACSR, led by MEC Galerekwe Virginia Tlhapi, accompanied by Head of Department Itumeleng Mogorosi and Chief Financial Officer Pulane Mojaki, proudly walked away with three accolades in recognition of the department’s Clean Audit Outcome.

This remarkable achievement marks the second consecutive clean audit for ACSR, reaffirming its commitment to clean governance, accountability, and service excellence.
“Clean Audit is not business as usual. We should appreciate all ACSR employees for their valuable contribution. There are men and women in this department who understand compliance and accountability, and no one should take it personally when held accountable,” said HoD Mogorosi.
“From time to time, I reprimand managers when things are done incorrectly or move too slowly, but that does not mean we dislike each other - work is work. I truly appreciate the dedication of our young interns who are eager to learn. We must preserve and protect the skills and knowledge we have built,” he added.
ACSR continues to demonstrate strong performance and fiscal discipline. The department achieved 97% implementation of its Annual Performance Plan (APP), up from 87% in the previous year, and spent 99% of its allocated budget, reflecting both efficiency and accountability.
In addition, the Auditor-General’s report found no material findings on the Audit of Predetermined Objectives (AOPO) or Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for both the department and its trading entities Klein Marico and Donkervliet.
During the presentation of the trophies at the department’s headquarters in the Gaabomotho Building, CFO Ms Mojaki expressed heartfelt gratitude and pride in her team’s relentless dedication. “These are the results of hard work and teamwork. Once we understand the PFMA, achieving a clean audit becomes easier without compromising service delivery. Policies are not a scarecrow; they are our guide to doing things right,” said Mojaki.
“The most difficult part is maintaining this standard. A clean audit is not the end, but the beginning. It should be the foundation for even stronger governance and service delivery. We are proud to have defended last year’s trophy and now added three more, making it four trophies in our cabinet!”
This victory not only celebrates ACSR’s financial integrity but also cements its reputation as one of the best-performing departments in the North West Provincial Government, a true symbol of dedication, teamwork, and visionary leadership.
