MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: The Northwest Housing Corporation (NWHC) recently handed over of title deeds at Mothotlung Community Hall where a total of 87 beneficiaries from Mothotlung Ward 20 were finally bestowed with their long-awaited title deeds under the Thuntsha Lerole Programme.
These title deeds carry profound significance as they signify the properties acquired by Mothotlung beneficiaries through the Northwest Housing Corporation, spanning from the era of former Bophuthatswana to the present day. The initiative was a concerted effort to address the enduring challenge of transferring pre-1994 properties into the rightful names of beneficiaries, thereby ensuring their secure ownership and tenure. The Executive Mayor of Madibeng Local Municipality expressed gratitude to the NWHC for their efforts in resolving the title deeds backlog in Mothotlung. He emphasized the government’s commitment to hearing and addressing the community’s concerns, stating, “Every parent deserves to know that his or her children have a place to call home. These title deeds are legal documents that assure you these properties are yours.” Cllr Douglas Maimane further underscored the significance of the occasion, stating that “Today, you can be at peace knowing that the houses you have lived in and raised your families over the years are yours and are valuable assets to hand over to future generations.” Among the heartening moments of the ceremony was the delivery of a title deed to a disabled woman, 59 year old Mme Lilian Muhlanga. Overwhelmed with emotion, she expressed gratitude to the North West government for restoring her dignity and providing her children with a place to call home.
