MAHIKENG MAIL - POTCHEFSTROOM: The North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, through the Potchefstroom College of Agriculture, in partnership with the North West Farmers’ Association of South Africa (NWAFASA), AgriSETA, and BLC Academy, proudly hosted a first-of-its-kind historic certification ceremony last week Wednesday, at Potchefstroom College of Agriculture. 
A total of 197 emerging farmers were certified following intensive training programmes in raising cattle, goats, grain, poultry and horticulture.

MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: The Mahikeng Local Municipality is facing scrutiny over the appointment of a security company, with possible irregularities coming to light in a parliament committee meeting this week. 
According to what was reported to the committee, the municipality awarded the contract to the security company despite the fact that it was not registered for Value Added Tax (VAT). 
This on its own triggered a significant issue, as the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) requires bidders for tenders over R1 million to be registered for VAT.

MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: The recent burst of a sewage pipe along the Bray Road is a stark reminder of the poor workmanship and infrastructure challenges plaguing the Phola and Ramosadi Village communities. 
Despite a repair effort which reportedly cost over R65 million, the pipe has failed once again, unleashing a torrent of raw sewage into homes and the environment.

MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: The continued infighting among ANC members in municipalities in the North West has become a worrisome development across the province. 
The ongoing fighting has spilled over to Ramotshere Moiloa Municipality where councillors reported that a security staff member was shot and injured, leading to employees not reporting for duty as they feared for their lives - this after a similar situation occurred in Ditsobotla Local Municipality earlier this year.
