MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: In a heartfelt and educational gathering, Mahikeng Provincial Hospital (MPH) held Breast Cancer Awareness recently  in collaboration with “Ride In Pink” a Non-profit Making Organisation led by Nompumelola Wana.
The day commenced with an invigorating aerobics exercise led by Coach Leonie, engaging all attendees in an active start.

The purpose of the event was to raise public awareness, empower individuals with knowledge, and eliminate discrimination in serving everyone affected by Cancer.  The event also heighted the importance of spreading hope, sharing information, and teaching methods to deal with and reduce the risks of breast cancer.
Two individuals, Jane Muchena and Lysil Argyros, shared their personal journeys battling breast cancer. They highlighted the pivotal support provided by MPH throughout their journey. Real-life experiences were shared by Dorothy Mathane, Emily Toolo, and Kelebileone Jane Tshabang, providing a window into the challenges and triumphs of cancer treatment. A moment of remembrance was observed through a touching song honouring those who lost their lives to cancer, followed by a candle lighting ceremony. Another song resonated; this time dedicated to the survivors bravely fighting cancer at MPH’s Oncology unit. Dr. Kyony wrapped up the event, emphasizing that October is not just about breast cancer but a time to remember all individuals battling different forms of cancer. The call for continued community education on various cancer types was echoed, highlighting the hospital’s commitment to raising awareness.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Day at MPH served as a beacon of hope, education, and unity in the ongoing battle against cancer, demonstrating the strength that lies within collective support and knowledge.
