MAHIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: The long wait to get one of the historic sites up and running is now over as the National Department of Tourism resuscitate Manyane Game Lodge. The programme to refurbish the lodge near Mahikeng is now finalized. 

Acknowledging the exciting develop-ment, Elliot Moncho, the Mayoral Spokesperson remarked this week that, “The National Department of Tourism has identified Manyane Game Lodge as a project under its Tourism Infrastructure Development Programme. To date the lodge’s scope was finalised and all attendant processes concluded and therefore the municipality is encouraged by the move to have all stakeholders meeting to be handed over the site for the work to start. The Executive Mayor encouraged that “the appointed service providers must ensure that they source local labourers, working closely with the Ward Councillor under the guidance of the Project Steering Committee. Not a single individual or a group of people must be allowed to stop or highjack this exciting development that will address the challenges of accommodation in Mahikeng. I commit to
 help DEDECT to motivate to the National Department of Tourism to increase the budget to enable it to also attend to the revival of the conferencing infrastructure at Manyane”.
The objectives of this project are to support and contribute to the upliftment of local communities through tourism development; provide Job creation for community and youth (temporary and permanent), contribute to regional economic development, geographical spread of tourism investment.
Scope of Work is the refurbishment of 20 Standard Chalets; refurbishment of 9 Executive Chalets; reconstruction of one Executive Chalet; refurbishment of existing 50-seater Conference Hall; restore the water reticulation system; restore the electrical reticulation system; refurbishment of swimming pool; 
completion of the existing Restaurant; refurbishment of Guardhouse, Pond and Bill board; repair paving, landscaping and security fence and replacement of boundary fence.
The project budget is R24 963 049.01 for period of 11 months contracted to ALF ZIM and Associates CC.
