MAHIKENG MAIL - MAHIKENG: The Department of Correctional services (Rooigrond) and Department of Community Safety Transport Management hosted the School Safety Campaign at the correctional services site near Mahikeng last week.

To give more impetus, Reverend Mpho Chaane, who is a champion of this campaign from Rooigrond’s side, was interviewed by Mmabatho FM to share his insight and expand on some key factors that underpins school safety.  He touched on critical issues such as partnering with other stakeholders to ensure that they join hands in polishing and modifying the behaviour of learners to make them responsible citizens. He further shared a very concerning issue with the public - the moral decay that society finds itself in.
The behaviour that learners showcase has a snowball effect on their performances. Rev Chaane pleaded with the community to assist the government in its endeavour to produce responsible citizens.
As part of this programme, the chaplain had the pleasure of meeting with the with MEC of Education in the North West,  who encouraged learners not to drop the ball and at the same time advised educators to support one another for the betterment of the education system.
