MAHIKENG MAIL – MAHIKENG - More than 3000 people descended on the small village of Lokaleng near Mahikeng for the 7th annual Tholo Ikitse Cultural Festival held on 18 and 19 October. 

The event hosted remarkable performing artists including Culture Spears, Mmaausi, Nomtiti Tshumu, Modubathankga, Fredmane, Majola, Kgabo Sereto and the Tholo Ikitse Cultural Ensemble as part of the spectacular entertainment for the festival. Kgosi Phenyo Motshegare of the Barolong Boora Tshidi - Kgotla Yoora Motshegare - said the event was a symbol of pride in the cultural heritage of Batswana as a nation.  “The growing number of people who participate in the event is evidence of how our people cherish our heritage as Batswana, which is important for posterity.” 
Some of Magosi who graced the event included Kgosikgolo Puso Gaborone of Batlokwa in Gaborone, who is also the Chairperson of the National House of Traditional Leaders in Botswana, as well as representatives from the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders in the Northern Cape province.
