MAHIIKENG MAIL-MAHIKENG: North West Provincial Government leadership led by the Acting Premier, Nono Maloyi visited Mahikeng Local Municipality villages including Gelukspan and those from neighbouring villages including Bapong, Mooifontein, Uitkyk, Naauwpoort and Goedgevonden to launch the Thontsha Lerole programme that aims to accelerate service to the North West province.
The multi service provision programme which included the handover of houses, sporting equipment, agricultural products, donations to assist local SMMEs and bringing the government to the people fulfilled their promises by implementing interventions that unblocked service delivery challenges confronting the area.
Acting Premier, Maloyi handed over a house in Setateng Village to a 97-years-old woman and a newly built house to a child headed household of three and two more houses to the Tsubane family which consists of 15 family members in Morwatshetlha Village outside Mahikeng as part of the Accelerated Service Delivery Programme-Thuntsha Lerole.
The Acting Premier who was accompanied by Members of the Executive Council, Local Mayors, Traditional leaders and various government officials said crime and corruption will not be tolerated in the province.
“People who have been committing crime and corruption will be arrested and spend time in jail. We are sick and tired of just talking about crime and corruption and do nothing about it.
As you have already seen we are closely working with various law enforcement agencies to deal decisively with criminality in our province,” he said.
He also said the province was expected to host the Imbizo - State President Cyril Ramaphosa later this month lead the District Development Model Presidential Imbizo at Ikageng Sports Complex in Potchefstroom -JB Marks Local Municipality, to interact with the community on service delivery challenges affecting them. The Presidential Imbizo is a platform for direct engagement between citizens and government. This includes consultation and updates on various developmental projects. Through this platform, communities are able to raise challenges they face and hold the administration accountable on service delivery challenges
