RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The Literary Outreach Incubation Programme, which is hosted by Kwetso Consulting Services (Pty) Ltd, in partnership with the national Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Books and Publishing, recently launched a new Book/Reading Club for PARKA Development Centre, who provides care and teaching for children from 12 months to six years old.

PARKA Development Centre is a full service year-round childcare centre and pre-school for learners who will go to mainstream schools, as well as learners with learning challenges and the aim is to prepare these learners to excel as young leaders of tomorrow by reaching their full potential.
PARKA is committed to innovative methods, with the ultimate goal of aiding toddlers and babies to reach key developmental milestones (talking, interacting with others, arts and reading) before they start school. PARKA works hand in hand with doctors and therapists, who provide early intervention services (occupational therapy, speech therapy) that will help children reach developmental milestones. Apart from this, there are plans and procedures provided by PARKA for autism spectrum disorder, language and speech development delays, as well as sensory processing disorder.
The Book/Reading Club installation by the Literary Outreach Incubation Programme, is intended to encourage a culture of continuous reading and to educate society about different disabilities that children live with, for awareness, knowledge and acceptance.
Learners from Laerskool Rustenburg Noord and Little Minds Pre-school were invited to take part in the book reading competition, which formed part of the launch of the Book/Reading Club. This was also a deliberate intention for the young ones to mingle with each other.
Stakeholders in the Literary space was also invited: The Rustenburg Community Library team and Sistaboss Academy, Ofentse Dinokana (Irish the Poet) from Kgosigadi Group Company, Yvonne Ntsomi (storyteller) from Salamende Ntsomi Foundation and Hope Molise (currently a student at Waterkloof Hills Primary school and a former after school program student of Ms. Kelebogile Motaung at PARKA).
Kgothatso Mathe and Kaona Segoe from PARKA took part in the reading competition and achieved sixth and seventh positions.
The event was a huge success and Kwetso will continue to support PARKA Book/Reading Club with reading material, structure, and guidelines to ensure it stands independently. PARKA will also be included in the network of Book/Reading Clubs within the Programme. Kelebogile Motaung, Founder of PARKA, and her team wished everyone the best for the future. "We would be grateful to see local community libraries also supporting PARKA Book/Reading Club as much as they can."
