RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Royal Bafokeng Institute (RBI) is proud to announce the launch of the Phepafatsa Bafokeng Campaign. This initiative, which commenced on Nelson Mandela Day, in Kgale Village, aims to instill a culture of cleanliness and environmental stewardship within the communities.
The Phepafatsa Bafokeng Campaign is a collaborative effort involving various community stakeholders, spearheaded by RBI. The campaign is dedicated to ensuring that the communities they serve as well as those who are on the periphery of the schools are both clean and safe, reflecting their commitment to improving the quality of life in the Bafokeng Nation.

The RBI, at the heart of this campaign is dedicated to addressing maintenance needs within the Royal Bafokeng Nation’s schools. Services include plumbing, electric work, bricklaying, paving and carpentry to ensure a swift response to any faults that may arise in schools. To this, the RBI has put together its School Rapid Response Unit (SRRU), staffed by 10 artisans, half of whom qualified at the RBI Construction School - as a testament to RBI’s dedication to maintaining safe and functional educational environments. RBI CEO, Rre Enki Pitsoe emphasised the importance of school safety and cleanliness: “At RBI, we believe that a safe and well maintained school environment is fundamental to the success and well-being of our learners. The SRRU is uniquely positioned to address any maintenance issues promptly, ensuring that our schools remain secure and conducive to learning. This campaign reflects our broader commitment to fostering a culture of cleanliness and safety throughout our community.”
The launch marks the beginning of an ongoing project where RBI and the SRRU will extend their efforts to all villages within the Royal Bafokeng Nation. RBI plans to host a cleaning day every month until all villages have been reached. RBI encourages community members and schools to actively participate and support this initiative by reporting incidents as quickly as they occur.
To report maintenance needs in schools or to participate in the Phepafatsa Bafokeng Campaign, community members and schools are urged to contact the Schools Rapid Response Unit by calling: (014) 566 1400 / 076 570 9281.
