RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Ward 44 Community Empowerment Movement is a local charity organisation, working for change and upliftment in what seems to be, forgotten communities.
Ward44 is active in different villages (Serutube, Mosenthal, Ikageng, Lesung and Lekgalong), as these local communities don’t even have the mere basics - such as health centres or a police station. The organisation was formed after the realisation that these five villages are severely lacking in service delivery.

“Our government is not providing, to so many the people - we thus decided to be the voice of our people and offer help around us and even across the province,” comments Kelebogile Basiretsi, Secretary of Ward 44 Community Empowerment Movement.
The organisation has now been active for a few months and has donated a gas stove, as well as socks to a local primary school - as every small act of assistance can have an impact. Basiretsi continues, “Our organisation is still new, and we don’t have any funds to work with to assist the community. As such, we are requesting any form of assistance or sponsorship from companies to be able to meet the community halfway (or any form of donation), to be able to start certain activities that can help with eradicating unemployment under the youth in the community.”
The Movement is planning to host an event on 28 September 2024, in celebration of Heritage Day (celebrated on 24 September). It is aimed as a celebratory event for local communities and disabled persons.
For information regarding donations or any other form of assistance, contact Kelebogile Basiretsi (Secretary) on 073 259 2185.
