RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - For the second time in just over five months, Rustenburg is reeling with shock after an alleged former senior employee of a local mining company was shot and killed by unknown attackers on the R104 east of Rustenburg.
It is alleged that a 48-year-old man was shot and killed by two unknown assailants at the corner of the R104 and 4th Avenue in Waterfall East between 06:30 and 07:00 last Thursday, 25 January.

It is further alleged that the deceased was driving his Toyota Hilux from 4th Avenue when he stopped at the intersection to observe a traffic light in order to join R104, police spokesperson Sargeant Ofentse Mokgadi told Rustenburg Herald. At the same time a white Volkswagen GTI and a white Kia Picanto or Hyundai I10 cornered the driver of the Hilux bakkie from the front and rear. Two armed suspects emerged from one of the vehicles and fired a multitude of shots at the man who succumbed to his injuries on the scene. The two vehicles then drove away in the direction of Rustenburg town, Sargeant Mokgadi said.
The Rustenburg SAPS have lodged a manhunt for the suspects and are appealing to anyone who might have witnessed or have any information relating to the murder to please contact the police or Detective Warrant Officer Karel Khumalo on 082 773 0590.
