RUSTENBURG HERALD - SWARTRUGGENS - A crucial four-hour meeting recently took place in Swartruggens, bringing together the town’s Mayor, Municipal Manager, and senior officials responsible for services and infrastructure.
The meeting followed the unveiling of the new Achievement Board alongside the N4, which reflects performance ratings on municipal service delivery.
Residents expressed their appreciation for the officials’ willingness to engage with the community and address key concerns.
During the discussions, short-term goals were established to improve various municipal services.
Among the commitments made was an effort to enhance the Achievement Board, which already shows a 4% improvement in key areas such as integrity, inclusiveness, participation, and commitment - an encouraging step forward.
To recognise those who have made a significant impact on the community, a special appreciation ceremony was held on 3 April at Die Padstal.
The municipal waste management team was honoured with a floating trophy for their diligence, commitment, and reliability in keeping the town clean (and giving this service with a smile!). Each member of the team also received a voucher, sponsored by local residents, to spend at a local business in the town.
Several individuals were also acknowledged for their contributions to community well-being. Lenie Mullet was recognised for her role as a mediator between the municipality and residents. Herman and Lindie Steyn, Leon and Gina Kelly, as well as Louis Cilliers were thanked for their ongoing and unwavering dedication to the town.
Following the ceremony, Gerhard de Kock from Die Padstal treated attendees to a delicious stir-fry lunch, reinforcing the spirit of unity and appreciation among residents.
The ultimate goal remains clear: For the residents of Swartruggens to join hands, free from hidden agendas, and work together for the greater good; ensuring the continuous improvement and beautification of their beloved town.
As the community continues to take steps toward revitalisation, the message remains clear: Bit by bit, Swartruggens will rise from the ashes!
