RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The management of Job Shimankana Tabane Hospital (JSTH) is committed to protecting patient confidentiality and clinical records in accordance with the National Health Act 61 of 2023 and other related legislations.
All hospital users are hereby informed that, illegal obtainment of clinical records is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

Obtaining or attempting to obtain clinical records without authorisation is a serious offense punishable by law. This includes unauthorised access to patient files, photocopying or scanning records without permission, sharing patient information without consent, illegal removal of clinical records, and leaving the hospital premises with patient files.
While the hospital does not prohibit clients and stakeholders from obtaining medical records, a detailed legal request must be submitted to the Chief Executive Officer.
It is against the law to obtain medical records without following the legal procedure or leaving the hospital premises with medical records. Violators may face consequences such as criminal charges with the South African Police Service (SAPS), legal action including fines and imprisonment, or disciplinary action against hospital staff involved.
All clients in consultation at the hospital must hand over their files at the pharmacy department or their last service point.
