BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Fifty learners from schools across South African and Eswatini recently took part in the 22nd annual edition of the Boxer Youth Leadership Programme (BYLP) in Zinkwazi on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Programme, fully paid for by Boxer and co-sponsor Clover, was an overwhelming success, with the many young leaders taking home incredible memories, new developed and strengthened skills, as well as a lifetime of new friendships.
The province of North West was well presented and yielded five graduates hailing from Mahikeng, Taung, Rustenburg and Klerksdorp respectively.

“This year was a really special one for our young leaders. Every opportunity presented to them was absorbed, energetically attempted and every single one of the 50 guests excelled. They take back with them skills, friendships, and a better understanding of the important role they play in the world. Boxer is dedicated to uplifting the youth and shaping future leaders and we cannot wait to once again choose 50 more leaders from the schools in your community, next,” said Boxer Group Executive for Stakeholder Sustainability and Engagement, Ntombi Dludla.
The weeklong programme saw the 50 pupils fly to KZN, where they received programme kits including shirts, tracksuits and pants. A weeklong full roster of activities kept the leaders busy - from abseiling to visits to the beach, leadership skills workshops and more. For some of the excited young people, it was the first time that they experienced flights and a swim in the ocean.
In addition, special appearances from experts in various fields and guest speakers inspired the current generation to reach for the stars and reach their potential.
The 2024 edition of the BYLP concluded with a graduation ceremony and unique performances from the guests, followed by their final awards and farewell dinner. Young persons in grades 9-11 and their parents are encouraged to keep an eye out for the 2025 entry information, which will be released later this year.
