BONUS - RUSTENBURG - Perhaps not the greatest achievement for an African country to date, but still a quite deserving performance by South African athletes, which is more than enough reason for a proper celebration!
This is what many South African sports authorities are saying after Team South Africa managed to bag six medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in the French capital over the past two weeks.

All in all we have a lot to be grateful for, given some of the challenges we’ve had to endure - notably the loss of sprinting sensation Benjamin Richardson in the 200 metres and the 4 x 100 metres final. Team South African clinched one gold and one silver medal (Tatjana Smith - 100 & 200 metres breast stroke) in swimming, silver for Team South Africa in the 4 x 100 metres relay, bronze for Team SA in the Olympic Sevens Rugby series and bronze for South African cyclist Alan Hatherly in the Cross-country mountain biking event.
The team is set to arrive back in South Africa later this week, whereafter the extent of celebrations is expected to be announced by the South African Minister of Sport, Arts Culture, Gayton McKenzie.
