BONUS - RUSTENBURG - In the heart of Rustenburg, amidst the bustling streets and the rush of everyday life, lies a beacon of hope and transformation: North West House of Refuge (NWHR).
Since its inception two years ago, this remarkable organisation has been dedicated to making a profound impact on the lives of refugees, asylum seekers, migrants and vulnerable South Africans.
North West House of Refuge (NWHR) was founded on the belief that every human being deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Their mission is to empower refugees  and migrants by facilitating their seamless integration and inclusion into host communities through comprehensive support programs, education, advocacy and awareness, livelihood, social inclusion, gender equality, capacity building, short stay shelter, partnership and collaboration. The organisation has tirelessly worked towards meaningful connections between refugees and host community members, breaking down barriers and building bridges of solidarity.
The core initiatives of North West House of Refuge are integration and inclusion, they have successfully run a Early Childhood Education (ECD) aftercare centre, learning through play, Refugee kids centre, whereby vulnerable kids are enrolled, on arrival food is given to them from the soup kitchen, they are assisted for homework after doing their school work, they go through a playing zone whereby parents or guardians can pick them up. Through this program, they have successfully added value to the kids' performance in schools after Covid 19. This initiative not only addresses immediate needs, but also fosters long-term sustainability within the community.
Another pivotal aspect of their work are women empowerment programs and food parcel distribution to the old age persons in the villages around Rustenburg. This initiative aims to help elders and physically challenged persons, ensuring that North West House of Refuge continues to be at the forefront of transforming challenges into opportunities and nurturing a community where everyone can flourish.
They would like to make a call to local businesses, the municipality, religious leaders and volunteers to work with them to reach more individuals in need in the communities. Looking ahead, North West House of Refuge remains steadfast in its commitment to innovation and excellence.
