BONUS – RUSTENBURG – The Rustenburg Local Municipality in partnership with the North West Provincial Government joined the world in commemorating World Aids Day on Friday, 28 November.
During the event the Acting Executive Mayor, Cllr Abesai Seleka said: “We recommit to prevention, awareness, treatment, and ending stigma.
Together, we can achieve an Aids-free generation.”
Seleka emphasised the importance of commemoration of World Aids Day, saying that it should be a daily reminder to all of us, that while we have made significant progress, the journey is not yet complete.
“It reminds us of the millions of lives lost to Aids-related illnesses, the families forever changed, and the communities that continue to feel the impact of this epidemic. But it also reminds us of the power of human determination, of science, and of partnership,” she added.
On-site at the Tlhabane Stadium, the Department of Home Affairs, and other provincial departments were present to provide services to the community.
