Donations pouring in to rescue animals at Kgaswane Nature Reserve
BONUS - KGASWANE NATURE RESERVE - Rustenburg communities are well-aware of the devastating fire that swept through Kgaswane Reserve at the end of September, destroying infrastructure and 60% of grazing in the reserve.
Approximately 85% of natural veld has been destroyed by the fire and private fire fighters braved scorching temperatures and flames for hours on end to bring the fire under control.
Emelang Malefo, Acting Reserve Manager, explained that the fire came at a very difficult time of the year before any rain had fallen and at a time when the female animals are about to give birth.
Avoid festive season blues and bleed red
BONUS - RUSTENBURG - The saying of "Your blood saves lives" is synonymous with the South African National Blood Services (SANBS), however, not many people realise just how important it is to donate blood until a loved one (or they themselves) are lying in a hospital bed with an urgent need for a blood transfusion.
With the festive season around the corner and unfortunately, the reality of many road accidents on the cards, the need for blood donation is greater than ever.
