Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The municipality has released the valuation roll for public review, allowing owners to verify their property valuations and raise objections if necessary. The period where in the public can raise objections ends on April 30. Frans Roos, local estate agent, encourages property owners to inspect their property entries in the latest valuation roll to ensure accuracy and fairness in property assessments.
The valuation roll determines municipal property rates, directly impacting property owners’ financial obligations.

According to Roos, inaccurate valuations could lead to unfair property tax charges, either excessively high or disproportionately low, affecting municipal revenue and service delivery.
The valuation roll is available for public inspection at designated municipal offices and online via the Matlosana Local Municipality’s official website.

Roos says it is important for owners to check property descriptions, valuations, and other relevant details to ensure correctness. “If discrepancies or errors are identified, owners may file an objection within the specified objection period. Failure to review the roll could result in overvaluation or undervaluation, impacting property rates.’’

How to Inspect and Object:
Property owners can visit the municipal offices during business hours or access the roll online. Objections must be submitted using the official objection forms available at municipal offices or the website. Supporting documentation must be submitted to substantiate any objections.
