Lentswe, Jouberton - The Executive Mayor, in partnership with Absa Bank, has donated school shoes to underprivileged learners across the Matlosana municipality. Cllr Fikile Mahlophe visited various schools on Tuesday February 4. This initiative aims to support disadvantaged learners by ensuring they have proper footwear as they begin the new acade-mic year.

The donation drive took place at various schools, namely Goue Arend Primary School (55 shoes), Tsamma Secondary School (20), Zimele geqe Primary school (40), and 41 shoes for Chris Hani Secondary School.

A total of 1 000 shoes will be dona-ted and the initiative will continue for the next two weeks across schools in Matlosana which have been identified through community engagement programs. The initiative is part of the municipality’s ongoing commitment to social development and youth empowerment, ensuring that no child is hindered in their education due to a lack of basic necessities. Beneficiary schools and parents expressed their gratitude towards the municipality and Absa Bank for the warm gesture.

“This collaboration reflects the power of public-private partnerships in addressing socio-economic challenges. The municipality has pledged to continue such initiatives, working with businesses and stakeholders to support education and uplift the community,” the mayor said.
