Lentswe, Klerksdorp - On Friday, October 11, the Matlosana Municipality, in collaboration with various agencies, conducted a targeted clean-up operation focusing on businesses in Randlespark and Ellaton. The joint effort included the Matlosana Law Enforcement Unit, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Municipality Environmental Health Services, the South African Police Service (SAPS), and the Department of Home Affairs.
While most businesses were found to be compliant, several issues were identified during the operation. These included poorly packaged products, the sale of illegal cosmetics, the mixing of incompatible goods, and expired food items, all of which were confiscated for safe disposal.
Operations team leader, Stephen Mpato, emphasized the importance of compliance. He encouraged business owners to seek guidance from relevant departments to avoid penalties. “We are here to assist.
When in doubt, please consult the relevant departments,” Mpato stated.
The Matlosana Municipality affirmed its dedication to maintaining a safe trading environment for all residents.
