Lentswe, Orkney - A five-year-old child died after being attacked by dogs. The boy was apparently sitting on a concrete wall in his yard, when he fell and landed in the neighbours’ yard. The neighbours’ dogs bit him to death.
WO Elize van Schalkwyk, police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said the child was rushed to the clinic where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

“An inquest has begun. Preliminary investigation indicates that the child was in the care of his older brother when the incident happened. He was playing outside and was apparently on top of a wall that separates one yard from the other. He fell and the dogs grabbed him by his throat. It is suspected that he provoked the dogs.’’

The child’s parents were at work at the time of the incident on Monday afternoon 19 August in Shakespeare Avenue.

As far as Lentswe could determine, the animals were not put down.
