Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The official matric results for the province were announced in the city on Tuesday January 14. The City on a Hill Church was bursting at the seams when the proud MEC of Education, Ntsetsao Motsumi, announced that 87.5% of matriculants passed. This is a huge improvement from the class of 2023 with an 81.6% pass rate.

She announced the School for the Deaf as the most improved school with 66% pass rate - compared to a zero percent pass rate the previous year.

The three top performing schools in the province according to pass rate are Hoërskool Wagpos in Brits in third place, Hoërskool Klerksdorp in second position and Hoërskool Wesvalia as the top performing school. Wesvalia principal, Lourens van der Merwe, could not contain his excitement when this was announced.

This is a big accolade for Klerksdorp with two of the city’s top schools claiming the two top spots in North West. Former KHS headgirl, Liané Engelbrecht is the runner-up best matric learner in the province. Jurie Blignaut of Hoërskool Rustenburg scored the top position.
