Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The police are leaving no stone unturned in their investigation into the kidnapping of a businessman who disappeared last week. The 62-year-old Danny Maluleke has only been living in the security complex in Klerksdorp for five months, from where he apparently disappeared on Thursday evening 10 April. He retired last October.
Lentswe has learned that his girlfriend who lives in the house with him suspected foul play after she heard nothing from him and saw suspicious transactions on his bank account. She called the police and froze his bank account.
Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, confirmed on Wednesday 16 April that Maluleke has been kidnapped. She did not want to reveal much information as the investigation is sensitive.
She did confirm that a 47-year-old woman from Jouberton was arrested and will appear in court this week. “The woman has no relation to the victim. The investigative team is working through the night in the investigation and caught her at a tavern in Jouberton. She was identified after a motor vehicle used in the kidnapping was linked to her. More suspects are being sought,’’ she said.
Meanwhile, a psychic medium published a photo of Maluleke on her Facebook page Unsolved Cases and appealed to her followers to help track him down. “We hope to find him alive soon.
There was a burglary at his house and he disappeared with two vehicles. Nothing was heard from him again. His wife was away with work and is really worried about his whereabouts,’’ she said.
Col Myburgh confirmed that the kidnappers did not make contact. “Our investigating officers are working through the night on this case. Many leads are being followed up.’’
