Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The 19th annual SA National Parks Week may have ended, but you can still visit Faan Meintjes Nature Reserve close to the city for free. The municipality invites residents to visit the nature reserve for free from September 30 till October 4. Please take special note of the fact that free access does not include free access to accommodation facilities. It is the perfect time to take the children and have a picnic in the park.

Please bring along your SA ID for free entry.

The reserve is a home to more than 41 large mammals. Beside the shy sable antelope, there are also a number of other mammals including oryx, waterbuck, lots of impalas and red hartebeests and other Acacia bushveld species such as giraffe, but there are no large predators within the reserve.

Faan Meintjes Nature Reserve is 1200ha in size and is situated about 16 km north of the city. The park is open from 08:00 to 16:00.
