Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Residents of Matlosana are invited to mayoral imbizos to be held all over the city. This is your chance to engage with the mayor, Cllr Fikile Mahlophe, about service delivery and the state of the city. The first imbizo will take place on Thursday September 5 at Stilfontein Library. It will start at 17:00. The second imbizo will be in Khuma at the Khuma Stadium at 14:00 on Sunday September 8. On Thursday September 12, residents of Orkney can attend the imbizo at the Orkney Library. It will start at 17:00. Brazil Stadium will be the venue for the residents of Jouberton. They can gather at 14:00 on September 15.
MEC Molapisi is acting premier
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - North West Premier, Lazarus Kagiso Mokgosi has appointed MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs, Gaoage Oageng Molapisi as Acting Premier effective from Thursday August 29 to September 6. During this period, Premier Mokgosi will be leading a delegation of the provincial government to Gyeosangbu-DO province of South Korea and the Henan province of China on an international mission.
Tough tax rules for two-pot system
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has warned any persons who intend to withdraw from the savings pot of the imminent Two-Pot Retirement system, the taxman will take his dues. The much-talked-about Two-Pot Retirement System came into effect on Sunday September 1.
While it’s called the ‘two-pot’ system, under the system, an individual’s retirement fund contributions will actually be split between three components (or ‘pots’): the vested, savings, and retirement components.
The vested component contains all accumulated retirement fund contributions made until August 31, 2024.
Cellphone snatcher active in Stilfontein
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - An unknown man is active in Stilfontein and grabbing cellphones from unsuspecting residents. According to W/O Naas Venter of the town’s police two cellphones were grabbed on August 12 at about 12:30 when the complainant was sitting in front of her house and the man approached her and grabbed both her phones. According to Venter, he jumped into an unknown vehicle that was parked nearby. “This is a regular crime that takes place in Stilfontein,” he said.
